Ingredients in Chicken Wraps
Here’s what you need to make Chicken Wraps:
- Chicken Breast: Use fresh, high-quality chicken breast for the best flavor and texture. Boneless, skinless chicken works best for this recipe. Make sure to slice the chicken into thin strips or bite-sized pieces for even cooking and easier wrapping.
- Flour: Opt for all-purpose flour for a soft and pliable flatbread. If you prefer a healthier option, you can substitute part of the flour with whole wheat flour, but keep a balance to maintain the softness of the wrap.
- Boiled Water: Use freshly boiled water to help create a smooth and elastic dough for the flatbread. The heat of the water activates the flour, making the dough easier to work with.
- Olive Oil: A drizzle of olive oil in the dough adds flavor and keeps it soft. Use extra virgin olive oil for the best results, as it enhances the flatbread’s taste.
- Vegetables: Choose your favorite fresh, crunchy vegetables to fill the wraps. Some great options include shredded carrots, thinly sliced cucumbers, lettuce, spinach, or even red cabbage for a pop of color. Feel free to add avocado or tomato slices for extra creaminess and flavor.
- Garlic Cloves: Use fresh garlic to enhance the flavor of the soy-honey glaze. Mince it finely or crush it for a stronger garlic punch.
- Honey: Adds a touch of sweetness to balance the savory soy sauce and garlic. Use natural honey for the best flavor.
- Soy Sauce: Use a high-quality soy sauce for rich umami flavor. Light soy sauce is ideal if you want a less salty option, but feel free to use dark soy sauce for a deeper flavor.
- Your Favorite Spices: Customize the flavor with your favorite spices. Paprika, chili flakes, black pepper, cumin, or even a touch of ginger powder can add a delicious twist to the chicken. Adjust the spices to suit your taste preferences.
How to make Stuffed Basket Chicken Wraps
Craving a meal that’s both comforting and exciting? These Stuffed Basket Chicken Wraps have you covered! Tender, soy-glazed chicken meets crisp veggies, all wrapped in a soft homemade flatbread. The balance of sweet, savory, and crunchy flavors makes each bite satisfying and fresh. Perfect for a quick dinner, lunch, or a fun family meal, these wraps are a delicious way to enjoy simple, wholesome ingredients in a creative, flavorful way.
1. Prepare the dough
Add salt to the flour, then pour in the oil. After that, add the boiling water. Mix everything well. When the dough becomes more consistent, start kneading it. Once kneaded, place the dough in a bag and let it rest for 20 minutes.
After resting, cut the dough into equal pieces and cover them with a kitchen towel. Take one piece of dough at a time and roll it out into thin flatbreads, about 10 cm in diameter.
2. Cooking the Flatbreads
Heat a pan. Place a flatbread on the hot pan and cook for 30 seconds, then flip it. Cook for another 30 seconds and flip again. The flatbread should puff up like a balloon. Once fully puffed, remove from the pan.
Continue the same with the remaining flatbreads. Once done, cut the flatbreads in half and separate the insides to create small “pockets.”
3. Filling preparation
Finely chop the meat and season it. Add crushed garlic, honey, and soy sauce, and mix well. Fry the meat until fully cooked.
4. Assembling the wraps
Cut the vegetables for the filling (tomato slices, cucumber slices, and lettuce leaves). Fill the pockets with the meat and vegetables.
These Stuffed Basket Chicken Wraps are a fun and flavorful way to enjoy a wholesome meal. With tender chicken, fresh veggies, and a delicious homemade flatbread, each bite is a perfect combination of comfort and freshness. Whether you’re cooking for yourself or sharing with loved ones, these wraps are sure to impress.
