The making part begins with marinating the pork and beef patties to absorb all the savory flavors, then baking puff pastry to a golden crisp. After that, assemble the mini burgers with lettuce, pickled cucumbers, cheddar, tomatoes, red onions, and a creamy mayo-ketchup sauce, topped with sesame and chia seeds for a crunchy finish.

1. Prepare puff pastry

Using a glass, cut out circles from the puff pastry. Brush the circles with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place on a baking sheet and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 25 minutes.

2. Prepare meat cutlets

Add spices of your choice (e.g., salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder) to the minced pork and beef, mix well. Shape the mixture into small cutlets. Preheat the grill and lightly oil the grates. Grill the cutlets for about 5 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.

3.Prepare the vegetables

Thinly slice the fresh tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, and red onions. Be sure to use ripe tomatoes for the best flavor and tender cucumbers for a satisfying crunch. Wash the lettuce leaves thoroughly, then gently pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove excess moisture. For added freshness, you can use a mix of leafy greens such as Romaine or Butterhead lettuce. Ensure all ingredients are as fresh as possible to enhance the flavor and texture of your salad.

4. Prepare the sauce

Combine mayonnaise and ketchup in a bowl, mix well until smooth, adjust the ratio to your preferred taste, and refrigerate the sauce until you’re ready to use it for mini burgers.

5.  Assembling the Mini Burgers

Take the baked puff pastry circles and slice them horizontally into two halves.

On the bottom half, layer in the following order:

    1. A leaf of lettuce
    2. A dollop of sauce
    3. The cooked cutlet
    4. A slice of cheese
    5. Tomato slices
    6. Pickled cucumbers
    7. Red onion slices
    8. Another dollop of sauce
    9. A second leaf of lettuce

Place the top half of the puff pastry over the layers.

Secure the burger with a skewer.

Ready to Serve

These puff pastry burgers are a simple and interesting snack perfect for a festive table!

Let me know if you’d like further tweaks!

These mini burgers are totally reminiscent of a classic burger, but with a fun twist! Except, you know, they’re tiny burgers instead of the regular-sized ones. 😂 😂 And there’s WAY more toppings and goodness packed into these little bites than you’d ever get on a regular burger (if you’re lucky enough to get that much!).

I’d love to know what you think if you give this a try! 🙂 – Angi
